Computer Network Technician – Level 2

Job description

Under the authority of the operational controller, the person occupying the position of Computer Network Technician is called upon to complete the installations of computer workstations and new devices (printers).The incumbent offers IT support to employees. Assisted by an external firm, sees to the proper functioning of the company server and responds to the IT requests of the employees, thus making it possible to optimize the operational efficiency of the organization.


Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Assembles new computers and technological tools;
  • Installs and configures the software and workstation equipment within the company;
  • Installs software updates on workstations;
  • Transfer data between workstations as required;
  • Assists employees on how to properly use their various computer tools (computer, software, printer, etc.);
  • Performs technical support for smart phones in connection with the server by completing the configuration and ensuring security;
  • Participate in the negotiation of IT and communications agreements;
  • Follow up on device warranties in the event of breakage or anomalies;
  • Provide maintenance, research the causes of breakdowns and manage networks, peripheral equipment, computer workstations, telephone system and internet connections;
  • Manage & maintain the company’s computer park, including hardware & software;
  • Maintain & publish an acurate ticketing system to support the various departments;
  • Ensure the application & compliance with IT security procedures and best practices;
  • Ensure proper disaster recovery plan (backup & security solutions);
  • Propose opportunities for improvement and automation;
  • Maintain infrastructure documentations, software lifecycles & licenses;
  • Be the bridge between the company and the MSP, IT service providers;
  • Analyse current setup, collect performance data & propose IT performance KPIs;
  • In collaboration with an external firm:
    • Administers the computer network,
    • Completes the work related to IT security.
  • Complete computer work request slips in accordance with pre-established company procedures;
  • Performs any other task entrusted to him by his immediate superior or aimed at meeting the specific expectations that may be communicated to him by the latter.

Requested skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or labour relations



  • Completed College degree DEC in IT  or relevant experience
  • Office Suite: Advanced
  • Network infrastructure (router, AP, firewall, DHCP, DNS, VPN,VLAN, switches): Advanced
  • Experience MS SQL / ERP, assets

Training and experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector, an asset
